How we calculate saving and some interesting facts

*Assumes the hot tub is switched off after each use and loses 10ºC in 24 hrs. Leaving the hot tub on constantly in case you wanted to use it anytime over 1 week, would cost approx. £3.00 per day, £21.00 for the week or £84 per 4 weeks. Calculations are based on measured performance using a new inflatable hot tub purchased S/S 2022 using a 2.05 KW electric heating element and at 12ºC ambient temperature. A 10 mm thick EVA floor protection/insulation panel, sold for this specific purpose, was used, with no further insulation. For the identical hot tub and under identical conditions, the overall cost is £1.90 per use. Costs used are applicable as at 1st April 2023 using a price of £0.332 kWh ex. VAT. Costs will vary dependent on your tariff and mode of use. We encourage you to measure actual electricity used using a KwH monitor plugged into your hot tub. Typical devices are available from a variety of well-known retailers – search: digital electricity reader.

** Based on heating a standard inflatable hot tub of 180 cm diameter and 710 measured litres from 20 – 40ºC at an outside temperature of 12ºC.

*** Please note that we want you to know that there are numerous factors that can affect the calculation of emissions and CO² absorption e.g. how much the temperature of the water is being raised, mix of electricity generated you are using, volume of water being heated, amount of energy lost, frequency of use, do you leave it permanently on or switch off and many more. Additionally, there is an abundance of research regarding carbon offsetting by trees, that whilst most are similar, there are variations in amounts generally considered to be needed per ton of CO². At SUPA we have used a variety of sources and assumptions to calculate the figures stated, and we believe we are correct based on the assumptions we have used. In the spirit of transparency, our figures may not be perfect (nobodies can be), but without question you can use the fact that propane emits approx. 0.18 kg’s of CO² per kWh and electricity from the grid is between 0.22 and 0.4 kg’s of CO² per kWh.

Some Interesting Facts

• Did you know heating a standard 4 person (710 litre) inflatable hot tub with no insulation by 20ºC takes the same energy to boil 1 litre of water in a kettle approximately 218 times.
• To raise the temperature of the specified hot tubs water by just 1ºC is equivalent to the same kettle being boiled approximately 11 times!
• The total energy to retain the same hot tub at 40ºC for 24 hours to be used the next evening is approx. 152 x 1 litre kettle boils.
• Using Tariff.com's research (the UK based carbon offsetting business), a 2.05 KW hot tub heated by grid electricity on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, for just one weekend, would need 1.36 fully grown trees (approx. 15 years old) to absorb the CO² produced.
• Propane emits 42% less CO² than grid based electricity (Tariff.com, 16/4/23). Dependent on how you use, or want to use your hot tub, using SUPA to heat the water has a massive impact on CO² emissions. Used for 6 months each weekend (Friday to Sunday), you would need 18 trees to offset the CO² released.
• With an estimated 1 million hot tubs in the UK alone, at just 10% being used each weekend over 6 months, it would need 1.8 million trees to offset the CO² released. Using SUPA would reduce that by over 50% or the equivalent offset of having a forest of over 900,000 trees spreading across approx. 3,700 acres, 1,995 football pitches – real football, not the type you throw!

Payment & Prices

We accept payment with debit and credit cards.

All credit/debit cardholders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by the card issuer. If the issuer of your payment card refuses to or does not, for any reason, authorise payment to us, we will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery.

Your credit/debit card will be authorised when your order is placed and processed but you will not be charged for the value of the goods until they are despatched to you. If you have out of stock items on your order we will charge and despatch the in stock items and the out of stock items will follow.

Prices include VAT at 20% where applicable and are valid unless the VAT rate changes.

Cancellation Right

Under the distance selling regulations you have the legal right to cancel your order for any reason within a 14 days cancellation period. You do not have to give a reason, however, you may be asked to help improve our service to you in the future. The cancellation period ends at the end of 14 days beginning on the day after you (or your representative) receive your goods. If your goods are sent separately, then this period extends to 14 days after you receive the last of the goods.

If you cancel you will receive a refund of the cost of the goods and any delivery charge levied. If you selected an enhanced delivery method, please note these charges will not be refunded if the normal delivery method was free of charge. If there was a normal delivery charge and you selected an enhanced method, a refund to the value of the normal delivery charge will be made.

If you wish to cancel your order it is your responsibility to inform us of this within the cancellation period. You can do this by emailing us at support@supa-heater.com. Please include full product details and the order number when cancelling. It is your responsibility to return the goods back to us and you are also responsible for the cost associated with returning the goods back to us.
